What's included in the Level 1 Hypopressive Teacher Training?

The training consists of 30 hours total: 15 hours of online theory including videos and a workbook that you complete at your own pace, followed by a 2-day (15-hour) in-person intensive focused on practical application and teaching the Level 1 poses. You'll learn the foundational principles of hypopressives, postural mechanics, breathing techniques, and how to safely guide clients through the Level 1 sequence with client assessments and additional exercises to support their practice. You’ll learn the anatomy, biomechanics and physiology in relation to hypopressives.

Who is this training designed for?

This certification is ideal for movement professionals, bodyworkers, and healthcare practitioners including yoga teachers, pilates instructors, personal trainers, physical therapists, pelvic floor specialists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and wellness coaches. You should have a foundational understanding of anatomy and experience working with clients in a movement or therapeutic capacity. This training is for those who have the headspace and time to delve into a comprehensive course full of content.

How much time do I need to dedicate to this course?

The 15 hours of online theory is self-paced, so you can complete it according to your schedule over several weeks or more intensively if you prefer. Most students spend 1-2 months on the online portion. The in-person training requires two full consecutive days of your time. We recommend allowing some practice time between modules to integrate what you're learning. After the practical you will be required to spend time practicing what you have learnt and complete the assessment.

Will I receive feedback on my own hypopressive practice?

You will get some feedback on your own breathing technique and form but unlike a 1.1 session we won’t be looking at your own symptoms and how to improve them. This is a course to learn how to teach others rather than looking in depth at your own practice.  You'll  practice teaching the poses to fellow participants and receive coaching on your own practice from fellow trainees.

What is the structure of the course?

The online theory covers the history of pelvic health and hypopressives, what hypopressives is and how it works including lessons on anatomy, biomechanics and physiology in relation to the practice and the rest of the body, the relationship and connection between the pelvic floor and other muscles and fascia in the body, neurodynamics, practical applications for a range of pathologies, case studies, working with clients and business set up advice.

The practical will cover in depth embodiement of hypopressives, assessments, additional exercises to support your clients practice, teaching practice.

How can I integrate hypopressives into my existing practice?

Hypopressives complement virtually any movement or therapeutic modality. You can offer them as standalone sessions, incorporate them into existing classes or appointments, create specialized workshops, or develop group programs. Many practitioners successfully integrate hypopressives into pelvic floor therapy, prenatal/postnatal programming, core rehabilitation, athletic training, and general wellness offerings. After the level 1 training you are able to coach the practice in a 1.1 setting.

What will I need to do for my certification?

For your certification you will need to have completed the theory and the supporting assessments online, the theory exam during your practical days, the teaching assessment during the practical and after the course submit 1 teaching video for the lateral breathing and apnoea and one teaching video of 4 poses and an explanation of why you have selected those for your client.

What certification will I receive upon completion?

Upon successful completion of both the online theory and in-person practical training, you'll be certified in Level 1 Hypopressives. This certification qualifies you to teach the fundamental hypopressive poses to clients and includes ongoing access to resources and support.

What is the investment for this training?

The full investment is £995 with payment plan options and early bird offers available.

Do I need any special equipment to teach hypopressives?

One of the benefits of hypopressives is that they require minimal equipment. Students typically need a yoga mat and comfortable clothing. Additional equipment such as balls, foam roller and therabands will be provided during the training. Alternatives will be suggested for clients that don’t have the equipment at home to make the practice as accessible as possible.

What happens after I complete Level 1?

After mastering Level 1, you'll have the option to continue your education with Level 2 training, which introduces more advanced poses and progressions. Many instructors begin teaching Level 1 content immediately while continuing their own education.

What if I can't attend the scheduled in-person dates?

This course does require you to attend the in person practical dates. If you can’t attend then speak to us about the next available course dates.

What if I have to leave early or miss some of the practical days?

We would suggest you stay for the whole duration of the course but if you do have to leave slightly early please be aware that we will not be able to recap on sections of the course that have been missed.  

Is there ongoing support after certification?

Yes! Certified graduates will be listed on the International Hypopressives Council UK website, gain access to the IHC teachers community, get free classes for observation, monthly CPD meetings.
